Cocktails. They can start off a dinner party, set the tone for a fantastic girl’s night, or kick off a much needed… I don’t know, Wednesday night? Whatever the event or any-other-day, a cocktail provides an opportunity for creativity and some sit-back-and-relax. (Yeah, that’s a thing.)

lemon-ginger whiskey sour recipe:
fresh ginger root
1 beautiful lemon
1 tbsp white sugar
1/2 cup water
2 generous shots Irish whiskey

First off, you could make simple syrup, and that would be perfectly bar savvy of you, but for this cocktail some no fuss sugared water should do the trick.

Mix the sugar and water until sugar has dissolved. Peel the ginger and slice thinly. There should be at least a few tablespoons worth. It really comes down to taste. Add the ginger and juice of one lemon to the sugared water. Let marinate for at least one hour in the fridge. You really want that ginger to infuse into the mixture.

Add whiskey to the mixture and shake in a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice. And I mean shake! Drop some ice cubes into a whiskey tumbler and pour the contents of the shaker into the glass. Garnish with a thin slice of lemon.
